7 October
2007 - Leicestershire
"We were on
our way home on the M1 northbound from Great Yarmouth to Cheshire
and suddenly lights appeared in the sky to the East of us, they
covered a large are of the sky. They were dots of light arranged in
a circular pattern and there were about 8 of these patterns and they
were all rotating clockwise "I think" around a central point
creating another circular pattern. These stayed with us for about 10
minutes coming and going in there intensity, this freaked my friend
and I out and were glad when they stopped. There were other vehicles
on the motorway surely some one else noticed them? I described them
on our local sports website as like a disco ball lighting up the
thin clouds but the lights were all white.
I would be
very interested to find out who else saw them, one of our pool
players directed me to this link after reading "lights in the sky" on the APRA site."
This
appears to be another of the laser/light show 'sky circle' events;
everything logical suggests a laser show, but as the witness himself
comments "Why hold one at 2.30-ish in the morning?"

5 August
2007 - Hinckley
"At
approximately 22:16 GMT in the sky I spotted from my living room's
window a blazing orange light at an indeterminable altitude and
moved out into the garden of the house to get a better look, as did
the two people sharing the house with me - whom I had summoned to
view the light.
With a clear
view of the object, it was evident that it was circling in a linear
pattern repetitively, billowing smoke behind it. The light itself
was in the region of 10 times brighter than a standard-intensity
star. After circling for what might've been twelve times under my
observation, it suddenly dimmed by about a factor of 4, the smoke
ceased and, accelerating to a speed I have never seen in an
aircraft, flew across the sky towards the south-east. Throughout
this entire process - which lasted for about 30 seconds, including
the visible flight of the orange object - there was absolute
silence.
The three of
us observers agreed that for one thing, it couldn't have been a
plane; the circling, spiralling motion, the brightness and smoking,
the lack of sound and the speed of the object after acceleration
makes it extremely unlikely. Secondly, it couldn't have been a
meteorite; meteorites do not spiral in smooth circles in the air and
then suddenly change direction, accelerating off into the distance -
as far as I'm aware, at least. It couldn't have been a rocket or
firework for the reasons of lack of sound, speed of travel and,
well, it didn't explode."

Late
February 1999 - Loughborough, Leics
A
newspaper report from our consultant Jim Rayner
Another
strange light in the sky has been spotted by Echo readers stated the article –
it went on to describe how Adam Greaves and Jane Harms of Loughborough saw a
ball of light shoot past their car in the early hours of one January morning.
The
couple had been driving along the A46 when Mr Greaves spotted a bright white
light fly past the car in a field next to the road. According tot he
witness
“The
light went past the car up towards the roundabout and then disappeared.
“It
was very strange, but it was not a shooting star, aircraft or a comet.
“At
the time I said to my girlfriend, ‘what the hell was that?’, and neither of
us knew.
“The
light shot past the car in the field. It was travelling very fast.
We were driving at about 60mph, but it was a lot faster than us”. In the
car with him was his girlfriend, Jane, she said
“I
noticed it because it was in front of the car. I got a good look at it for
a few seconds, and I have not seen anything like it before.
“We
were both quite shocked at the time but we thought that strange things do
happen. It could have been a UFO but we just don’t know. It was
very strange.”
The
sighting report came after what was thought to be an alien encounter in the
Loughborough area on 8th February.

Summer 1994
- A46, near Sixhills
An
interesting report, prompted by reading the M1 sighting and report, below:
"My
then partner and I were coming back from
Leicester on the A46, somewhere near the
Sixhills area I think. It was night and I was driving a 2CV. I commented to my
partner that a strange green tennis ball coloured light was reflecting off my
screen and we both thought it was an internal light.
Intrigued I pulled over and
switched my lights off and the light came from outside. All I can describe is a
tennis ball. Colour and size. It floated down the windscreen and looked at
both of us. It sort of rolled down the bonnet of the car towards the nose bit
and then went up into the night sky faster than you could imagine. My partner
was in a bit of a mess with fear being a
London lad and not used to
countryside with no lighting around. I started up the car and we agreed never
to talk about it. Which we didn’t.
I did try to find out if other
people had seen a green tennis ball type light.
I really come away with the
thought that we were both being looked at in some way."

Summer 1994 - M1, near Leicester
A very curious early morning sighting:
"I
was driving down the M1, approximately 15 miles south of Leicester. My car
began to slow, even with my foot down, to 40-50mph. To my left, the object
depicted here appeared and moved over the front of the car, just clearing the
lampposts along that stretch of the motorway. It was so close - around
50'-60' away that I could have thrown a tennis-ball at it and hit it!
The time was around 2.00am, and there was one other car (doing the same speed as
me), in the next lane. I looked across the the driver of this yellow
beaten-up Talbot Horizon, and he looked at me astonished. The flight
pattern of the object was very erratic, and nothing as far as I am aware can fly
with as much control in such a way. It passed out of sight slightly behind
me to the right.
At this point the both cars speeded up and we both kept driving, and I regret
that we did not stop and talk about what we had just seen."
The witness was unable to clarify whether the
cars just suffered a baffling loss of engine power, or whether there was
more widespread electrical problems.
