2008 - Watchfield
From 'MH':
"On Sunday
at approx 0030 hours in Watchfield I was walking my dog (having
returned from dinner with friends) at around 0015 when I see three
orange lights to the North West of my house. As the orange lights
moved westwards they slowly faded out one after another until they
were no longer visible. I initially though they might be aircraft
on the flight path to Brize Norton but I discounted this when I saw
that they did not have the red and white strobe lights normally
associated with aircraft. I though this was curious but nothing
more.
About 3-4 minutes later I emerged from the housing estate area
around Watchfield folly when I noticed fifteen of the same orange
lights strung out from East to West in the North-western sky,
travelling steadily in a eastern direction. At this point I phoned
my wife to tell her to look out of our house windows and she also
saw them. The orange lights were spread out in a pattern I have
never associated with aircraft and several were far too close for
aircraft to be safe. I watched them steadily moving eastwards
towards Faringdon for perhaps 3 minutes. They all faded out
gradually as they reached a line running North-South to me until
none were visible.
To confirm the lights were orange and glowed constantly until they
began to fade out and then completely disappeared. They were
roughly following the line of the A420 and had come from the area
Swindon-Highworth and were moving towards Faringdon. It was a clear
night and the stars were completely visible."
Everything points to this being another fire lantern event.
APRA researcher James Hill confirms that a mass launch/flight of
fire lanterns occurred at Cheltenham that night, although it is
unlikely these would have drifted southwards to Watchfield.

15 June
2008 - Minety
From 'TD':
"This is a
strange one! My wife and I have just witnessed approximately15-20
orange lights (UFO's) in the night sky whilst driving home this
evening at 11.25pm!
The lights
were staggered across the night sky horizon and were moving fairly
slowly up and to the south I think? We saw them for at least 5
minutes but by the time we got home most had disappeared and when
I got out of my car on the drive the last one moved up and
disappeared behind dark cloud. We are not drunk and am intrigued
to find out if there have been any other sightings this evening as
these things were very visible if only for a few minutes?
We are not
prone to reporting this type of thing but feel that we have just
witnessed something incredible!!!"
This
appears to be another fire lanterns launch and flight from
somewhere nearby to Minety. As yet we haven't seen of other
reports - which might be expected - to the likes of local media.

17 November
2007 - Shrivenham
At around
5.00pm the witness was watching football when he noticed a 'ball of
flame' appear and cross the sky:
"..it looked
like the flame on an air balloon, but was travelling too fast to be
an air balloon (and it was dark, so I doubt they'd be flying then) .
The only other thing I thought it could be, was an afterburner on a
jet, but it was going too slow and it made no sound."
The most
likely explanation was a bright meteor or bolide.

7/8 February 2006 - Wanborough,
Wiltshire: Bright UFO in the Sky
APRA Researcher James Hill saw something
unusual on the way to work on the morning of the 7th.
"This was seen in the east at around
6.35. a.m. (and was not Venus). This had what appeared to be
two massive white lights on/in front of some type of structure and I
mean big; it appeared to be around twenty to twenty five thousand feet
off the ground and about three to four miles from where I was.
The weather was fine and the sky was
clear just getting light; this thing came in slowly from the East as
I was leaving for work, it seemed to be getting lower in the sky.
It wasn't as bright but when I got to my first pick up [for work
colleagues], who also saw the object and lights; by now it was a lot
closer and was about as big as my thumb nail at arms stretch.
When I came out of the paper shop it had gone this was very weird. "
A similar object and lights was seen
again the following morning.

18th September 2004 at 06.40 am - Swindon
An observation from James Hill:
I
would have sent this earlier but I thought it was an aeroplane - but the more I
have thought about it the more I'm convinced that it is not.
The day was cloudy, low cloud but with breaks in it. I had
been watching the sky for a few days as it appeared that they were spraying
chemicals in a grid pattern.
At the time I was looking a break appeared in the cloud and
what I took for a transport craft dark grey in colour flew through it coming
from the north west to the south east. It was at this time I noticed it had a
red ball of light slap bang in the middle of it at the back.
I had dismissed this as just being an aircraft reflecting the
sun, but as I say the more that I have gone over this in my mind I'm convinced
that it was not. The aircraft was more delta shaped than winged and sunlight
would not have reflected off of the back as a red ball of light.
This aircraft was above the cloud but below the contrails or
chemtrails left by other aircraft.

19 December 2002 - Wanborough
APRA co-ordinator James Hill was outside at
6.30am, and had what he describes as his "most unusual experience ever".
James continues:
"I was standing waiting to be picked up, stood
facing the south west. The moon was to my right and full when I noticed
something very bright out of the corner of my eye. I looked up to see a
very bright blue white light travelling from the north east to the south west,
the shape was very similar to what you have on the web site possibly cigar but
fatter, and it emitted a red to almost orange trail about two hundred yards
behind it. This sighting lasted almost five seconds and it travelled in a
dead straight line. A meteor I hear you say, this is where it gets weird.
as it travelled in front of me I noticed that the rear of the tail of the thing
was perfectly round and orangey red. There were also aircraft in the
vicinity that were higher than the object.
The more I think about it the more I am convinced
that this was under intelligent control because it went in a straight line, it
also did not show any curvature to show it was outside the earths atmosphere.

Summer 2001 - Cricklade, Wiltshire
A report sourced by APRA researcher James Hill
"Miss J" (pseudonym) said that the weather was fine,
and it was around 10.pm, while she and a few friends were sat on the balcony of
her home in Cricklade, which faced east, drinking coffee after a dinner party.
She said that they saw what she thought at first to
be three bright white lights coming from an aircraft, roughly six miles from her
home, but when it got closer she realised that it wasn't any aircraft that she
had ever seen. RAF Fairford is roughly 4 miles to the east (numerous
unusual aircraft would have been observed during RIAT events) . Miss J
said she could clearly see that this craft was definitely triangular in shape as
it had one white light at each tip and that the craft was jet black, definitely
of solid shape and was huge - in fact it was larger than a jumbo jet by half a
fuselage length again.
She said that this craft was at an altitude of about
six thousand feet and came almost over head at which point it stood still for a
few seconds then rotated through 360 degrees and shot of so fast back the way it
came, it was gone instantaneously.
She said at first she wasn't going to say anything
about it as she was a bit wary as to what her friends would say, but a friend
that was there had also seen it and remarked how strange it was and thought that
it might be from Fairford. I told her that this was highly unlikely as to
my knowledge they were still working on the runway resurfacing it at that time.
When asked how long this had lasted ,she replied three minutes from first seeing
the lights and there was no noise from it either.

7th
January 2000 - Swindon
Another sighting by James Hill while waiting for his
works transport.
James spotted the lights of an aircraft coming in
from the Northwest, at a fair height. What surprised him was the bright
'solid-looking' disk of light travelling close alongside. No obvious beam
could be seen to suggest a laser or 'searchlight' shining on cloud. Both
the aircraft and 'disk' were moving at a reasonable speed, when the disk
suddenly accelerated, and cut across the nose of the aircraft, which showed no
indication of deviating its course. The light disk then continued away at
speed.
At
this point a potential witness had appeared on the scene - a delivery driver in
his van, but he was more interested in finding his way than in the object that
James was pointing at! Consequently James remains as a single witness,
unless of course, anyone on the aircraft comes forward with a report.

13th
December 1999 - Swindon
APRA
Co-ordinator James Hill, was waiting for his morning works transport, when he
noticed a bright white light in the sky, almost like a torch beam. This
then changed into a shape of blue/white lights, which was very similar to the
object seen by the combined APRA/SUFOG skywatch team, while at Avebury on 1st
August 1999. This time the object changed course by 90°, and then
"just went out". Interestingly, this course, and disappearance,
would have been over the Avebury area!

Aug 99 - Avebury, Wilts - a multiple witnessed UFO
A team of 6 skywatchers (From APRA and SUFOG) were
well into their all-night skywatch at Avebury, on the Lammas night, which has by
tradition seemed to produce UFO reports.
Shortly
before 0350hrs, a series of very bright pulses/flashes were seen to emanate from
behind Waden Hill, and therefore in the direction of Silbury Hill. These
were not the characteristic 'skyflashes' seen on so many skywatches, as they
were much lower to the horizon. They were also not the muzzle flashes from
artillery on the Larkhill ranges, as no sound of the normal artillery fire could
be heard on what was a still night.
At
0350, James H and Bill S almost simultaneously sighted a bright object high to the
north. The other 4 people then looked at the object, which was made up of
bright blue and white lights. Curiously, although the 6 people had binocs
round their necks, not one thought to use them immediately. The object was
heading for the edge of a smallish cloud, but then veered left, to 'make for'
the main part of the cloud, which it then went behind - it didn't emerge from
the other side!
The
next morning, two Belgian (or Dutch) men came walking round the Avebury henge,
asking if anyone else had seen the strange puling lights. From their
position down the West Kennett avenue, the pulses were behind the 'other end' of
Waden Hill, but clearly came from the ground upwards. This would have
placed the source for the light pulses very close 'behind' the hill, and must
have been very close to Silbury Hill itself. They hadn't seen the 'UFO'
object. The
pulsing flashes were clearly not camera flashes - BJ had ample opportunity to
compare these during the 99.9% eclipse at Portland on August 11.
All 6
witnesses perceived the UFO to be slightly different in shape, ranging from
circular/disk, to diamond and even triangular, indeed the two who first saw it
think it may have even changed shape - it is interesting to note that UFO
investigators/researchers were no more able to clearly agree on a sighting than
other witnesses! However, all
agree the UFO was 'comprised' of a number of blue and white lights.

Jan 1999 - Wanborough, nr Swindon, Wilts - A flight of Spheres?
The witness’s account:
“I was waiting for my lift to work in the middle
of Wanborough. As it was a clear morning, I was gazing at the stars, and
was looking at the so-called ‘summer triangle’ (Deneb, Vega and Altair),
which were in the souheastern sky. My attention was grabbed by three
bright lights, travelling slowly from the northwest to the southeast – they
were bigger but dimmer than the stars, and were disk-shaped. They appeared
to be very high, and seemed to be climbing all the time as they flew in a
straight line, before being lost to sight. Other aircraft were flying, but
were not obviously connected to the three disks”’.

October 1998 - Swindon, Wilts - The FT returns!
One
of APRA’s researchers, was leaving for work just after 7.00am, when he glanced
up, and was rewarded with a view of the now classic black ‘flying triangle’
overflying his home. The craft, and we really must refer to it as a craft,
was flying at around 200’, and probably at around 200mph. The body of the
craft was dense black, and there was a bright white light on each corner, along
with a bright green light on its ‘left rear’ wing (Though front/rear and
left/right are never clear with the FT’s, as they have been seen to fly with
their ‘pointed end’ backwards) - so again this green light was incorrect for
normal navigation lighting requirements. This craft, despite its low
height and speed, was totally silent, and was lost to sight within seconds.
It was last seen heading to the southeast.
Inquiries
with relevant local airbases has not produced much response for either of these
cases. We had to refer to these two delta-shaped objects as ‘low
flying craft’ before RAF Lyneham would perform any internal investigation -
which proved negative.
The airbase claim that there were no resident or
visiting military aircraft in their control area on either of the above dates,
and suggest that these craft may have been commercial flights!
It may also
be significant that at time of the 19th October sighting, nearby RAF Fairford
was home to a detachment of B-52 bombers at the time of the Kosovo crisis.
Were any USAF stealth aircraft also based there?

September 1998 – Swindon, Wilts - An illuminated FT
A
CE2 case from Swindon.
Two
men, walking home from a party in the early hours of the morning, saw a most
interesting object in the sky, and perhaps a variation on the famous ‘Flying
Triangle’ (FT). The object seen by the men was triangular in plan view,
with slightly rounded corners, but it also had a short tail boom, with an
apparent ‘V’ tail. The details were clear, as the underside was lit up
with a diffuse white light, though the light source seemed to be completely
internal in the ‘craft’. The only other light was a bright flashing
green light on the underside at what would have been the rear of the left
‘wing’ (Which is the wrong colour for a normal navigation light on a left
side).
The craft was moving slowly, and the men were able to see more of
it in a side view, which was of a slender pointed ‘fuselage’, though the
pointed tail(s) were prominent at the rear. The craft hovered for around 4
minutes, at which point it dropped a blue ball of light, which fell ground
wards. The craft then moved off slowly, and was visible for a further 5
minutes. A conventional aircraft, of an unknown type, then approached, but
didn’t seem to investigate the area. The witnesses estimate that the
craft was some 2 – 3 miles from their position.

1992 - Swindon
A sighting from "Ron", from
a part of Swindon that at one time was something of a UFO hotspot...
"It was 1992 I was living
with my parents at Haydonwick Swindon. It was about 1pm at night I was watching
TV - my parents had gone to bed, and I was in the front room when all of a
sudden a brilliant bright white light lit the whole front room up. For some
strange reason I remember thinking it could be a ufo even before I saw it,
anyway I went out side I looked up and yes I saw this black triangle with
glowing lights like pulsating lights. It was hard to describe the colour,I
remember thinking no one will ever believe me but there was no sound complete
quietness. What I can say, was it seemed to be looking for some thing as it
moved its lights were like a spot light. I remember thinking shall I get the
video recorder - I whish I had because I was so close underneath it anyway
that's what happened "
